Riparian Institute at Water Ranch
(Gilbert, Arizona) is a riparian preserve for protecting wildlife. Usually
visitors need to pay a fee for tours, but I joined a free program organized
by the School of Life Science, Arizona State University. The "tour guide"
is a knowledgeable professor equipped with a high-power binocular. Never in
my life had I observed birds in such a "close" distance. Unfortunately, I
could not take picture using his lenses. Instead, what I had is just a
low-power 28-300mm zoom lenses. To compensate for my hardware shortcoming,
I tried to be creative. Rather than doing the same thing as that done by
everybody else, I converted the photos into Chinese "water-ink paintings."
