Historically Kremlin was a fortified complex for defense purposes. Today it had lost its military values and is used as the official residence of the Russian President. The complex consists of a museum, palaces, and Orthodox churches. Unfortunately during the Soviet era many national treasures in the palaces were sold and many churches inside Kremlin were destroyed.
