Petra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in south Jordanian. The ruin is also known as the Rose City because of the color of the stone that was used for “carving” the city.  i.e. the inhabitants carved cave-like dwellings based on the pre-existing shapes of the stone walls. In the fourth century BC it was the capital city of the Nabataeans. Although he city was securely protected by narrow slot canyons, but in the second century the Romans took the city by cutting off its water supply. I paid a high price to take these pictures. When I was rushing back to the tour bus, I dropped my camera and lenses on the ground! Fortunately I had two backup cameras to cover the subsequent trips. The lesson is: never run without securing the camera bag.
