Undoubtedly, the cluster
of lamps outside the LA
County Museum is an interesting subject for photography. But
timing is important. The picture of the lamps with their shadow
was taken in late afternoon while the pictures from a low angle
were captured in the evening. At first I focused on the poles
and their shadow only, because the lamps were uninteresting
without the light. The light was turned on around 6:00 PM. At
that moment the sky is still bright enough for me to photograph
the scene. One may argue that a tripod could have been
used to compensate for low lighting even if it were darker.
Because the pictures were taken from a low perspective with a
wide angel lenses, and sometime I laid down on the floor to
include more lamps, it was not possible to set up a tripod.
