Butterfly fairies are the most common form of fairies. Fairies are often depicted with butterfly wings though many creatures have wings (e.g. birds, bats, other insects...etc). Probably it is because butterfly wings are colorful, and people perceive that fairies should be as beautiful as beautiful, despite that they are demoted angels.
