On August
28, 2007, a colorful lunar eclipse was visible from Australia, parts
of Asia, and most of the Americas. The red color appeared because
light from the Sun as it reached the Earth must pass through the dense
atmosphere of Earth before reaching the Moon. As a result, the
scattering sunlight caused the red coloring of the moon.
Residents in the western part of the US had a
better view than people in the east. While the process lasted about 2
hours in the West, it was just a half-hour show in the east.
Fortunately, Arizona is located in the western side of the continent.
