Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park is located in the Sierra Pelona
Mountains, California, USA. These pointed rocks were formed by the
force emitted from the San Andreas Fault. The place is named after
Vásquez, a bandit who used these rocks to evade the law
enforcement. In 1972 Vasquez Rocks became one of the National
Register of Historic Places due to the prehistoric presence of
natives. Numerous sci-fi TV shows and movies, such as "Outer Limits" and
"Star Trek", were filmed in this alien-look location.
The appearance of Vasquez Rocks is not extremely unusual, but on
the day I took these photos the cloud and the rock patterns
matched each other very well. If you look closely at the last
photo, you can see that some hikers were climbing towards the
"horns". However, my heavy equipment prohibited me from rock
climbing.
