XinJiang, China

Note
Flaming Mountain is well-known for its role in the Chinese mythology "The Western Adventure." According to the tale, this mountain was protected by two supernatural beings, namely, Princess Iron Fan and King Bulk. The former was capable of cooling down the mountain by her magical Iron Fan.

Location
ShaanXi, China
Note
This landscape is human-made rather than natural. In this trip the tour bus passed Mountain Fire and this greenish area, but did not stop at any of them. Taking these pictures from the bus is very challenging because the roads were extremely bumpy (free massage for passengers). As a result, it is impossible to hold a camera in a still position. As a statistician, I let the law of probability do the job. I operated my camera like shooting with a machine gun, and eventually one out of a thousand frames would be usable.

Tears of Roaring Dune
Location
Mountain Ming Sha (Roaring Dune), Gansu, China
Note
The "tears" of Mountain Ming Sha are relics made by tourists, who hike to a high point of the dune and then ski downward. I hiked to the peak to take this photo. But I walked back to the ground because skiing with two cameras is absolutely a bad idea.
