October is the prime time for fall colors, which
are typically red, orange, and yellow. But in some areas there is an extra
color: white resulted from snowing. I call it the wedding between Autumn
Fairy and Snow White. You can be a witness of this beautiful wedding in
Utah if and only if you are at the right location in the right moment with
the right equipment. These pictures were taken in Big Cottonwood Canyon,
Little Cottonwood Canyon, and Spanish Fork in a freezing day. It is funny
that at that time the temperature in Utah was about 39 degree, but a day
before I was complaining about the heat in Phoenix, Arizona (93 degree).
My pair of hiking shoes is suitable to the desert in Arizona, but not the
snow mountains in Utah. In addition, my rental car was a sedan, not a SUV.
When I was driving on Little Cottonwood Canyon Road, I saw a small car
slipping into a ditch. At that point I decided to turn my car back, and
thus these pictures are the best I could do given the limited resources.
