Although Los Angeles is highly
urbanized, wilderness is still easily accessible to nature-lovers.
Mount Baldy is just 22 miles (35 minutes driving time) away from where
I live. Its elevation is 10.069 ft. (2069 km) and thus no plants can be
seen at its bald peak. Last weekend I hiked with a friend who visited
the mountain numerous times. Needless to say, he is very familiar with
the area, and he showed me many
sculpture-like trees along the trail. I made the trip more difficult
than usual because I packed two cameras and three lenses in my
backpack.
