Antelope
Valley Poppy Reserve is located in Lancaster, north of Los Angeles.
This is the largest area in Los Angeles for viewing the California
poppy, a species of wildflower native to the US and Mexico. Its
official name is Eschscholzia but it has many popular nick names, such
as golden poppy, California sunlight, and cup of gold. It is also known
as sleepy one because the wildflowers close up at night and in a cloudy
day or the wind speed is high. Therefore, it is very important to check
the weather before going to the reserve.
