Mexican Gold Poppies are the vivid wildflowers
that carpet the desert of the Southwest US once every decade or so. The
last spectacular blooming occurred in 2008. This year I visited Bartlett
Lake, but the view is not as good as before. Mexican Gold Poppies are
native in Arizona and California. As wild flowers, they can survive
under tough conditions
Some people argue that Gold Poppies are colorful and converting color
images into black and white could not reflect the essence of these
colorful flowers. In my view, on some occasions simplicity can bring out
the hidden essence of the subject matter.
