The
Subway is a rare geologic
formation in the Western section of Zion National Park, Utah. The
"tunnel"
resulted from water carving over many years. The Left Fork Trail to the
Subway
is one of the most strenuous hikes in national parks. On paper the
distance of the round trip is 9-mile
only. But there is no sign or maintained trail except at the beginning.
It
requires route finding, creek crossing, climbing over boulders, and
walking on
slippery cascades. I fell down on the slippery cascades twice and
fortunately my cameras were not damaged. One of our team members was
exhausted and turned
around. Another one who endured the pain and went all the way to the
end got sick the next day. Despite the difficulty, it’s well worth
it. The photos speak for themselves.
