Our original plan is to visit Elephant Island and Deception
Island in Antarctica.
Unfortunately, a sudden drop of air pressure and the subsequent
violent waves forced the captain to abort the plan. Later we switched
to Plan B: Go to Paradise Bay and Gerlache Strait instead. Paradise in
Antarctica was discovered by Belgian seaman Adrien Gerlache. In
1921-1922 two British explorers stayed in Paradise to study penguins,
but today the site is inactive.
