Stroboscopic photography

 2019 February

Stroboscopic photography is an imaging technique for capturing a subject in motion using a set of stroboscopic light source. In this set up configured by Mr. George Simian, eight high-power flashes were fired within three seconds when the model was dancing. However, the dancer could not go very far over such a short period of time. To enhance the motion effect, I panned the camera from left to right or vice versa. It is easy to say but hard to do. If the panning is too fast, the dancer would appear to go off the edge of the frame. If the panning is too slow, multiple images of the dancer would jam together. It took numerous attempts to create this set of images, but it’s more than worth the effort.
