Arches National Park, which has over 2,000 sandstone arches, is
the densest concentration of natural arches in the world. The most
famous one is Delicate Arch, as shown in this page. Although there
is a viewpoint in the parking where you can see the arch, the best
view can only be reached via a short hike (two miles round trip).
If you want to go for the sunset view, you must start hiking at
least an hour before sunset and bring a flashlight for the return
trip.
After spending some time in Arches National Park, most tourists
may get a feeling of over-saturation. Thus, my strategy is to view
different geological formations in different places. On that day
my route is: Island in the Sky of Canyonlands National Park, Dead
Horse Point State Park, Fisher Towers (shown in the next page),
and Arches National Park. Precise scheduling is essential, of
course (more pictures below).
