Getty Center in LA is well-known as a museum, but actually it is more than a museum. That's why the creator of this complex, J. P. Getty, called it "Getty Center" instead of "Getty Museum." Getty Center includes galleries, research institute, and conversation institute. The complex by itself is a piece of artwork designed by American architect Richard Meier. The project started in 1987 and finished in 1997. I visited Getty Center right after it was opened to the public. At that time the art collection was relatively thin and pale, but today it is on a par to any major art museums.
