The Alcazar of Segovia is a Moorish (Islamic) royal palace located on top of a rock in the city. It has two nicknames: “Cinderella Castle and “the “Snow White Palace,” because Walt Disney’s fantasy castle in Florida was modeled after the Alcazar. This palace is also a military fortress, which was impregnable for centuries. After I entered the castle, I began to understand why it was so secure. To reach to the top of the castle, one must go through a very narrow and long staircase in a spiral fashion. No matter how massive the invading army is, only one person could go to the staircase at one time. Unfortunately, photography is not allowed inside the castle.
