The city of Lompoc, which was
founded in 1888, is located in Santa Barbara County, California, USA. La
Purisima Mission founded in 1787 is one of the earliest Spanish settlements. At
that time the area was inhabited by a native tribe named Chumash, but today
Chumash had been disintegrated. The city is called the flower seed capital of
the world and that's why I was attracted to the city. Before the trip I sent an inquiry to the Chamber of Commerce of
Lompoc. I was told that their flower fields begin blooming from May to June, peaking
in late June; some fields continue blooming in July and August. Unfortunately
this information is incorrect. No flower fields could be found on July 4. Nonetheless,
La Purisima Mission is still a great place to visit.
