The Preston Castle, also known as the Preston School of Industry and Preston Youth Correctional Facility, is located in Ione, California. The castle was design by Henry Schulze in 1890 and was completed in 1894. When this youth correctional facility was closed in 1960, the original plan was to demolish the entire castle and therefore anyone could go inside to take anything. As a result, the condition of the caste terribly deteriorated over the years. Fortunately, after the aesthetical and historical values of the building were discovered, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. However, it will take multi-million dollars to restore the castle to its former glory, and thus currently the castle is still a shambles. Nonetheless, its current condition is good for creating nostalgic photos.
