The Bahamas is a country consisting of many islands. Grand Bahamas, as the name implies, is the biggest island. The Bahamas became a British colony in 1718 and it didn’t gain independence until 1973. Grand Bahamas is about 79 miles east of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It takes only three hours to get there from Fort Lauderdale. The distinctive architectural style in the Bahamas is picturesque. As shown in the first photo on this page, even the bus stop is artistically designed.
