The Lord of The Rings
and The Hobbit Trilogy, winners of seventeen Academy Awards, were filmed in the town of Matamata, New Zealand, situated in the Waikato region. In 1998, prior to the commencement of filming, director Peter Jackson envisioned New Zealand as the perfect setting to recreate Middle-earth. During a flight over numerous farmlands, he discovered a specific location with golden plains, towering mountains, and enchanting valleys, deeming it ideal for the fantasy land created by J. R. R. Tolkien. The rest is history. Today, there are tours for visitors to explore Middle Earth. While I find the landscape beautiful, I wouldn't classify it as exceptionally gorgeous. Nevertheless, the movie set adds a captivating element to the place.
