Kenai Fjords

The last two photos on this page were taken at Seward, which is located at the edge of Resurrection Bay. This deep fjord was shaped by a glacier thousands of years ago. There are about 40 glaciers in the Kenai Mountains and some are accessible by a cruise ship. Glacier ice appears to be blue because the red (long wavelengths) part in the spectrum is absorbed by ice and the blue (short wavelengths) is released.
