Contrary to popular belief, a wide angle lens is not always the ideal one for landscape photography. Many of these photos were captured at the Sunset Point of Bryce Canyon. Taking pictures of high contrast scenes under the sunlight is challenging unless you post-process the images using a High Dynamic Range (HDR) software app, but the end result would look artificial. My solution is simple: Instead of using a wide angle lens to cover both extremely bright and extremely dark hoodoos, I used a 400 mm telephoto lens to focus on a subset of evenly illuminated hoodoos.
