It was a rough ride for the ship was rocking like a cradle.
During the day it was fine with me. But at night it was impossible to
sleep even though I took a pill for relieving motion sickness.
Needless to say, the weather was extremely cold. We got up at 4:00 am
in order to catch the sunrise in Antarctica. Although I lived in
Minnesota before, I haven't experienced extreme cold weather since I
moved to Phoenix, Arizona. In that morning my whole body was
well-insulated, but my cameras were not. The batteries drained rapidly
and my wife ran around to recharge the batteries twice so that I could
continue shooting.
