North Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park is not as crowded as
South Rim for a number of reasons. First, it takes more driving time
to reach there. Second, unlike the south section that has many
nearby motels, there are just a few lodges inside and outside the
park, and you must plan ahead and book a lodge at least six months
prior to your trip. Third, the north section is 1,000 feet higher
than the south. Due to its high elevation and low temperature, the
north part is open in summer and fall seasons only. Nevertheless,
the northern landscape, in my opinion, is even more spectacular than
its southern counterpart. Cape Royal is considered the best location
in North Rim for viewing sunset. The moment is very brief yet it is
unforgettable.
