A website said that the "White Pocket" is a "top of the top" in
the list of special places. I concur. In the White Pocket, most of
the geological formations are layered sandstone, which were
developed during the Jurassic period. Whenever a new layer of sand
dunes covered an existing layer, the old one was compressed by
groundwater minerals. As a result, different patterns and colors
were created by both the physical (wind, erosion,
compression...etc) and chemical (minerals) processes. As the name
implies, the top layer of the White Pocket is white. This thin
layer covers a core of red Navajo sandstone. Parts of the layer
have narrow cracks, and thus some surface areas are divided into
four-, five-, and six-sided polygons. In some areas the cracks are
wide open, and as a result, the red and yellow layers are exposed.
