During the 1840's, a family allegedly developed a
rich gold mine near the area now called Lost Dutchman State Park.
According to the tale, an Apache ambush ended the family's last
expedition, and the gold stayed in the area. In the 1870's, Jacob Waltz
("the Dutchman") was said to have located the mine, but he never passed
the information about the location to anyone. After his death, the
secret was buried with him. In this photo I applied several filters to
enhance the mystical feeling of the park. |
