The
pink-colored water captured in
the photos is from Hutt Lagoon
Pink Lake near Perth, Western
Australia. This vibrant hue is
attributed to the presence of
algae in the water, specifically
Dunaliella salina. When exposed
to sunlight, these algae produce
beta-carotene, the red pigment
also found in carrots and
various vegetables. Despite the
lake beginning to dry up towards
the end of December, I find the
scenery remains captivating. If
you walk on the dry lake
surface, it creates reflections
on the pink water, adding to the
fascination of the photos.
